A year ago today, I decided to start posting a character a day to help myself review and to also help anyone else who might need it. At the time, I never imagined that I would actually be able to keep up with it for an entire year, let alone that there would be such a positive response to this blog~!! So, as a thank you to all of my followers, both old and new, I wanted to do a giveaway to just show how much it means to me that you all have followed and stuck around! ^^/

Yeah, I mean, you feel sorry for him. But that’s it. Sympathy doesn’t carry a game. First time you go through it you’re in it for the mystery of what’s going on, I had no interest in Vincent or his relationships, I didn’t give a crap about any of his friends, I wanted to see what the resolution to the central mystery was and climb some blocks like a motherfucker.

To be fair though it did get me interested enough to pick up Persona 4 when it came out on the Vita and I’m really glad I did because it was fantastic.

5: A popular series/game you just can’t get into no matter how much you try?

God of War. I just don’t get it. Gears of War as well although the mechanics are solid enough the story just feels like Cliffy B. saw Starship Troopers and didn’t understand it was satire. God of War is the most frustrating though because I played Chains of Olympus and enjoyed it. But I can’t get into the original games, and frankly couldn’t care enough to try any of the newer ones.

I love video game music so this is really hard, so I’ll just list off some of my current favourites.

He really is, the entirety of the plot in Catherine is derived from Vincent being an overgrown Man-Child who’s terrified of commitment, yet is too comfortable in a stagnant relationship to do anything about anything.

He’s actually awful, Catherine could of been one of my favourite games easily because it was so fresh and tried to have a conflict resolved through story segments and puzzles, as opposed to combat, which was really interesting and commendable. But I hated Vincent. I couldn’t get behind him. And honestly I feel really sorry for the kind of people who do relate to him.

4: Worst game you’ve ever played?

I can’t think of any games that really stick out in my mind as awful. There’s bound to be one or two PC Engine games I’m not remembering. But honestly only Sonic 2006 comes to mind. It’s a broken mess. It is practically unplayable. I only still have it because they discontinued production and I’m kind of a Sonic collector.

9: A game you turn your volume off every time you play it?

I don’t think there is one? I like to play stuff with videos or stuff in the background a lot but there isn’t any specific game, plus the first time I play something I always leave the volume on.

23: Biggest disappointment you’ve had in gaming?

Final Fantasy XIII, hands down. I’ve tried three times to get through it and I always end up just clocking out after a couple of hours. It’s just awful, and signalled the death of Final Fantasy as far as I’m concerned. I know people say it gets good after 20 hours but guys, that’s desperate justification for WASTING 20 HOURS OF YOUR LIFE ON THIS GAME. A game getting good after 20 hours is not a selling point by any stretch of the imagination. Not to mention how it doesn’t explain anything through the story and the music is devoid of any effort or charm, the game plays itself, all those other criticisms you’ve heard ad-infinitum.

Plus it doesn’t help that when I first got it, Grace had also got me Arkham Asyulm, which is so good I’ve completed it at least twice a year since.

Omochao from Sonic Adventure onwards, Umah from Blood Omen 2 or Vincent from Catherine. Various reasons.

Omochao is irritating in general, Umah is an okay character but the game is convinced that Kain would fall in love with her and I just don’t see it at all, it’s entirely out of character for him. and Vincent is a shithead that you have to put up with because he’s the protagonist.

1. Do you try to stay away from Walkthroughs?

Yeah. Generally I like to try and figure it out for myself. But inevitably you’ll find a puzzle or you’ve missed an item somewhere and it’s just, nope, have to check. I wanted to go into System Shock 2 without any walkthroughs but then it just decided to be insanely hard.

3. Best Game you’ve ever played?

It’s generally either Soul Reaver, Metal Gear Solid 3 or Grim Fandango. I just love the Legacy of Kain games and to be honest, they’re all great, but I remember Soul Reaver when it came out and none of the rest of the series had that same freshness. It doesn’t hurt that it has some of the most well written dialogue in any game I’ve ever played. MGS3 is a great striking point between cinematic story telling and gameplay, plus it takes no knowledge of the series to enjoy, and Grim Fandango is just fantastic. Seriously everyone should play it.

11. Hardest Game You’ve ever played?

Castlevania and Mega Man, generally, Nintendo didn’t have the market dominance in Europe that they had in Japan and America like, at all, the SNES came close though, so I didn’t grow up with them and learn all the tricks. More recently System Shock 2 has been kicking my ass, also Catherine was tough as balls. If the European version didn’t ship with a hidden super easy mode I wouldn’t of beaten it.

15. Which two games do you think would make an Awesome crossover?

I’m tempted to cop out and say Portal and Half-Life but they already are. ..

A couple of years ago I played a ton of games at Grace’s while she watched and two of them in very quick succession were Deadly Premonition and Heavy Rain, ever since then I’ve always wanted York and Jayden to team up.
