1 year + $100K + booking agent + tour van split among four bands = very neat experiment. Question: what will Hard Rock be doing to help the bands strategically build a fan base (and the demand for the band)? Or will the hype of being a Hard Rock band be enough to generate enough attention to sustain a band? Do people even care about Hard Rock Café anymore? Like I’m not trying to be a dick I’m legit asking. I remember it used to be a big thing going to Hard Rock Café but these days I can’t really say I hear about it ever. I mean I was raised on Sabbath, Pink Floyd et al and I really don’t care. But the thing is this isn’t a new idea. This is basically what Red Bull have been doing for the last 4 years or so with the Red Bull Bedroom Jam (I know I was in it) but Red Bull aren’t losing money over their comp. In fact Red Bull have a strong presence anywhere they go. Red Bull had a Stage (that was also a bar) at Glasgowbury this year and everything was Red Bull. It’s an interesting idea though.
