I was sitting the other night and I was thinking.

Metal Gear Solid has loads of women in it who aren’t defined just as being women, or sexualised in the way they usually are. The fanservice and Cheesecake usually comes from either the odd easter egg, or they’re pictures of ‘models’ hidden around the game’s environment. But with the characters, the likes of Sniper Wolf, Meryl, The Boss, they’re not there as eye candy for the male players. They’re there as characters.

And I was just thinking… what the fuck is up with Eva? Eva is just ridiculously sexualised, and I was originally thinking that maybe they figured since Snake Eater is set in 1964 they could get away with it? But then I remembered the whole double agent thing and realised she’s using her sexuality to throw Snake off, and since he’s really awkward with sexuality and women in general it works.

Not that I really have a point. Or if I have a point or there’s something positive that can be garnered from this I don’t know, but I just thought it was interesting.
